Introduction

IFD

Idarah Falah-u-Darain (IFD) embarked on the much needed and less trodden expedition of social reconstruction in the Baramulla town in  December 1999. The guiding light for what was to become path-breaking long walk decades down the line was the glorious Quran informed by the tradition of Prophet (PBUH). IFD intends to present the noble message in a way that fosters the personality of the individuals without being tendentious which, IFD believes, would gradually lead to the progression of a competent and tolerant society.

The expedition is multifaceted while the approach is autodidactic which includes a well-organised charity wing (Al Mawneen) which was established in 2002. The wing which has now taken the shape of “Bait ul Maal” of Baramulla, takes care of 650 downtrodden families besides helping unemployed youth to set up business ventures. IFD believes that society restructures itself only when its inhabitants are economically deficient, so the wing attempts to address and eradicate the issues related to poverty and the subsequent marginalisation.

IFD encourages collective philanthropy which is deeply informed and rooted in the spirit of the prophetic tradition, an essential part of which pertains to knowledge production and excellent scholarship. Standing true to the trust imposed by the community on IFD in its journey of 20 years and to meet this huge challenge in the field of education, IFD established Arifeen School of Excellence (ASE) at Delina and Centre for Research and Policy Studies (CRPS) at Kanthbagh, Baramulla. IFD also provides educational scholarships to students from marginalised backgrounds. IFD believes that these projects will address various crisis our society faces and go a long way, satisfying the intellectual demands of our society. IFD started with limited resources at our disposal but with unflinching faith shown by society towards the sublime vision that IFD intends to accomplish and the commitment of our members, we are now harnessing more resources. The snippet of our efforts can be gauged from the fact that since the beginning of covid19 lockdown IFD spent more than 3 million rupees on at least 1500 families.
